Stunning Lot of WWII Ephemera of
Sergeant Stanley W. Naperkoski, A Bomber in the Raid on Wake
Island, Dec. 24th 1942.
Welcome! Featured today is an amazing
collection of World War II ephemera from Sergeant Stanley W.
Naperkoski. Included are 4 photographs, 3 new paper clippings,
and a survival instruction note.
The pilot survival note is in both
English and Tok Pisin, the language of Papua New Guinea. The
note gives instructions to those who would find a crashed pilot.
The seal indicates that this was a British survival note. Measures
6-1/2 inches by 6 inches.
The two smaller new paper clippings
mention Sergeant Naperkoski being awarded a medal and taking
his furlough. He was awarded an Air Metal for his participation
in the Wake Island Raid on Dec. 24th 1942. The other clipping
describes his furlough from the south pacific. It states "Sergeant
Stanley served as radio operator and gunner abroad the United
States Bomber The Bad Penny".
The first photograph shows Sergeant
Stanley standing next to The Bad Penny Bomber. It measures 4-3/4
inches by 3-1/4 inches.
The second photograph is what looks
to be Sergeant Stanley with his mother, the picture is dated
Oct. 28 1943. Measures 3-1/2 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
The third photograph shown is Sergeant
Stanley near a field in civilian clothes with his gun holster.
Measures 4 inches by 2-1/8 inches.
The last photograph is of a bomber
going down a run way. Measures 4 inches by 6 inches.
The large paper clipping reads "Bomber
Blast Wake I. In Gigantic Night Raid!". The Clipping is
from the Honolulu Advertiser and is dated Saturday Morning January,
2 1943. The clipping details the events of the raid. Clipping
is approx. 16 inches wide.
There is also information on the Distinguished
Flying Cross that was printed off the Internet which is also
included in the lot.
There is general ware due to age which
is shown in pictures. Clippings have creases some small tares.
The survivor note has a tare to one edge. Overall in great condition
considering its age.
An amazing set of WWII Ephemera items,
