WWII Ephemera Photograph News Clipping Sergeant Bad Penny Bomber Wake Island Raid Hawaii

Stunning Lot of WWII Ephemera of Sergeant Stanley W. Naperkoski, A Bomber in the Raid on Wake Island, Dec. 24th 1942.

Welcome! Featured today is an amazing collection of World War II ephemera from Sergeant Stanley W. Naperkoski. Included are 4 photographs, 3 new paper clippings, and a survival instruction note.

The pilot survival note is in both English and Tok Pisin, the language of Papua New Guinea. The note gives instructions to those who would find a crashed pilot. The seal indicates that this was a British survival note. Measures 6-1/2 inches by 6 inches.

The two smaller new paper clippings mention Sergeant Naperkoski being awarded a medal and taking his furlough. He was awarded an Air Metal for his participation in the Wake Island Raid on Dec. 24th 1942. The other clipping describes his furlough from the south pacific. It states "Sergeant Stanley served as radio operator and gunner abroad the United States Bomber The Bad Penny".

The first photograph shows Sergeant Stanley standing next to The Bad Penny Bomber. It measures 4-3/4 inches by 3-1/4 inches.

The second photograph is what looks to be Sergeant Stanley with his mother, the picture is dated Oct. 28 1943. Measures 3-1/2 inches by 2-1/2 inches.

The third photograph shown is Sergeant Stanley near a field in civilian clothes with his gun holster. Measures 4 inches by 2-1/8 inches.

The last photograph is of a bomber going down a run way. Measures 4 inches by 6 inches.

The large paper clipping reads "Bomber Blast Wake I. In Gigantic Night Raid!". The Clipping is from the Honolulu Advertiser and is dated Saturday Morning January, 2 1943. The clipping details the events of the raid. Clipping is approx. 16 inches wide.

There is also information on the Distinguished Flying Cross that was printed off the Internet which is also included in the lot.

There is general ware due to age which is shown in pictures. Clippings have creases some small tares. The survivor note has a tare to one edge. Overall in great condition considering its age.
