Vintage RMS QUEEN MARY Gladwin CUNARD LINE Ship SPOON
A vintage Teaspoon from the Cunard
Line Ship RMS Queen Mary, manufactured by Gladwin Ltd.
We are pleased to present this vintage
Teaspoon for your consideration. It comes to us from the great
Cunard Line Ship, the RMS Queen Mary, where it
was "borrowed" during one of the ship's many voyages.
We believe the Spoon dates to the early years of the ship's
Although we cannot guarantee the spoon is from The Queen Mary, we are near her Port and received in the the purchase of a larger collection of Queen Mary items.
The Queen Mary made its maiden voyage
in 1936 and continued in service until 1967. The ship was one
of the fastest of its era, and saw considerable service during
World War Two as a troop carrier, often carrying loads of 15,000
to 20,000 American Soldiers. Today, it is permanently moored
in Long Beach, California, where it serves as a Hotel, Museum,
and Tourist Attraction.
The Spoon is 5-3/8 inches in length
and weighs 0.9 ounce. The top of the handle is marked CUNARD
LINE while the underside is marked GLADWIN Ltd and
NS (identifying it as silver plated).
The Spoon has a light patina and a
few small spots where the plating has worn through. There is
no unusual wear, nor any damage, and we rate the overall condition
as very good to excellent (see pictures).
This is a wonderful chance to own a
piece of one of the most famous ships of the Twentieth Century.
The Spoon would make a great addition to any Nautical collection!
