We are overjoyed to present this limited
first edition copy of Lafayette in America, signed by
author Louis Gottschalk. Leather bound with silk appointments,
this book comes with a first edition certificate of authenticity.
Copy number AK891, this book is one of only 294 random copies
were reserved by the book's publisher, l'Esprit de Lafayette
Society, for presentation to libraries, museums, and select
There are 6 lithographic plates of
maps that have been copied from the original documents and have
been approved by the United States National Historical Publications
and Records Commission. Loosely inserted within the book is
a Certificate of First Edition, signed by Richard Poe (in charge
of the binding) and dated March 24, 1976.
The book is 458 pages long, with a
thickness of 3 inches. It is 9 1/4 inches high and 6 1/4 inches
wide. Total weight is 4 pounds 6 ounces.
Obviously well taken care of the book's
inside and outside covers, as well as the binding, are in fine
condition. The fore edge has some minor dirt and foxing, but
this does not affect the interior of the pages themselves. Similarly,
the goldn ornamentation on the outside covers and spine show
little if any wear at all.
For rare book collectors, this limited
first edition with certificate is a hard deal to pass up.
