Vintage/Antique Purse with Victorian
era steel faceted beads
We are pleased to offer this beautiful
knit and Victorian steel faceted bead purse.
This purse has two curb link pull
chains that run through eight beaded tabs at the mouth of the
purse, there is also a border of five rows of the beads encircling
the top. From this border there are 26 vertical stripes of beads
that are 1 bead wide, at the top, and flair to a width of 7
beads, or about 8mm at the bottom seam. The body of the purse
is panel knitted, and made of a gray thread. The beads are not
sewn on or applied, they are knitted into, and are part of the
fabric of the purse. The beads are Victorian era faceted metal
beads, and have the silvery color of Manganite. The beads are
1mm in size, and are magnetic. The two pull chains are 9 1/2
long loops made of 3mm curblink chain, finished with dangles
of loops rings, and hollow beads. This purse has no lining,
and no indication of the maker.
This purse measures 4 inches wide at
the top, expanding to approximately 6 3/4 wide at the bottom
seam. The purse measures 6 3/8 from top to bottom. This purse
weighs 8.5 ounces.
Condition- This purse is in good condition,
but there are two flaws. At about the middle of two of the tapered
beaded stripes, located near the outside edge of the purse,
there are breaks in the weave. See close up pictures provided
for details. If you are handy with a needle and thread you may
be able to repair these two flaws. A few of the beads have come
loose in these areas, they will be sent along with the purse
