Vintage AIRCRAFT PHOTOS US NAVY CONFEDERATE AIR FORCE Zero
A collection of vintage aircraft
photos, including some from carrier operations in the US Navy
and a portrait of a plane from the Confederate Air Force.
We are pleased to present this lot
of vintage combat aircraft photos. Included is a portrait of
a Confederate Air Force AT-6 trainer painted to resemble an
A6M Zero for the organization's 'Tora Tora Tora' squadron. Other
photos include a series of US Navy carrier operations and CAF
restoration work, featuring the Grumman F9F and others.
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF),
formerly known as the Confederate Air Force, is a Texas-based
non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and showing
historical aircraft at airshows primarily throughout the U.S.
and Canada. The CAF also has extensive aircraft collection on
static display at the American Airpower Heritage Museum at Midland
International Airport, located in Midland, Texas.
The Texan/Zero portrait is the largest
in the lot, measuring 12 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches fully framed. The
smallest of the non-framed photos is 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches. Total
weight for the lot is 4 1/2 pounds.
The main photo and frame are in excellent
shape, with no major dings or scrapes. The black and white photo
array is in good shape, though the back portion of the bottom
frame is missing. This does not dislodge the photos, however.
The Navy photos in the gold frame are pressed and neat, and
the frame itself is in great condition. Some of the loose photos
have yellowed with age and have dog ears, but this is nothing
that ruins the photos themselves.
For collectors of militaria in general
and aircraft enthusiasts in particular, this lot of vintage
American aircraft is a prime purchase.
