MARIE CORNELISSEN Antique Print LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Framed Chromolithographic
Item - Antique mounted, matted, & Framed antique chromolithographic print by the English female artist.
We are very pleased to be able to offer this antique mounted, matted, and framed chromolithographic print by the female english artist Marie Cornelissen.
Marie Cornelissen (1855 - 1921) -British artist born Marie Seymour Lucas in Paris, and studied art there as well as at the Royal Academy in London, and spent some time studying in Germany. Her birth name was Maria Elisabeth Cornelissen, But she painted and exhibited her work under the name "Marie Cornelissen" she also exhibited under the name 'Mrs John Seymour Lucas" after her marriage to the historical painter of the same name. This Chromolithographic print, Titled "Little Red Riding Hood" was printed in 1882, by the Leighton Brothers of New York City for the Christmas supplement to the Penny Illustrated Paper. The Penny Illustrated Paper was an inexpensive illustrated weekly Newspaper, which ran from 1861 to 1913, and was published in London.
This chromolithographic was lovingly mounted, triple matted and framed. The mattes have very fancy corner cuts, and the frame has a wonderful pressed pattern of oak leafs. The print itself looks to be in very good, to excellent condition. The frame measures Approximately 19 1/2 inches by 23 3/8 inches. The image area of the matte measures approximately 10 3/8 by 14 1/6. The back of this framed mounted print is sealed with a piece of foam core board.
Condition- The condition of this print is excellent, the only issue we can point out is a large chip out of the frame located in the lower left corner (see picture).
