HAEGER Table Lamp Large CERAMIC PEGASUS With COLT Vintage 1970s
Large ceramic slip cast table lamp, Pegasus, winged horse with colt.
We are happy to be able to offer this vintage, 1970s, Large Pegasus table lamp.
This lamp is a large ceramic slip casting, it is glazed in a dark Celadon crackle glaze, with deep Maroon coloring at the horses main, wings, tail, and around the hooves. There is also the use of hand painted bright gold luster accents in the same areas. The finial at the top of the shade harp is done in a matching glaze. The base is covered in felt. The overall height of the lamp is 38 3/4 inches tall. The base measures 6 1/2 inches by 9 5/8. This lamp weighs 11.25 pounds. And in somewhat of a departure from traditional Greek mythology, there is a winged colt flying along side the Pegasus. To my knowledge there was just Pegasus and his brother Chrysaor, sired by Poseidon, in his role as horse-god, and foaled by the Gorgon Medusa. But the winged colt is kind of cute.
Condition- This table lamp is in good condition. It has no cracks, or chips. The crazing in the glaze is the result of the use of a crackletone glaze. The plating on the hardware is tarnished, but nothing a little steel wool won't take care of. The shade post is removable. The lamp has been tested, and found to work just fine. But I would recommend replacing/ upgrading the plug.
So if you love 1970s kitsch, Greek Mythology, Pegasus, or all of the above, perhaps you have the perfect place in your home for this lamp.
