Victorian decorative arts refers to
the style of decorative arts during the Victorian era. The Victorian
era is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of
historic styles and the introduction of cross-cultural influences
from the middle east and Asia in furniture. This piece is a
continuation of that style, which varied widely during the period
but was very popular.
The mirror measures 14 inches tall,
with an additional inch added for the bun feet. Total width
of the piece is 26 inches in length. The bun feet are exactly
23 inches apart. Weight of the piece is 8 1/2 pounds.
As can be expected with furniture
of this age, there is foxing along the right side of the mirror's
face, but the glass is otherwise crisp and clear. The bottom
part of the frame has some scuff marks, but nothing major. There
is a surface crack from age on the middle right side of the
frame, but it appears to be surface only. The two mounting brackets
on the back are solidly installed in the back of the mirror,
and the piece is ready for hanging.
This piece is in truly excellent condition
and would be the perfect addition to any victorian dresser missing
