Antique Hand Painted CERAMIC MOSER JAR TRINKET Brass Hinge

An antique Moser jar, often used
for trinkets and decor, with a hand painted lid by a signed
artist and brass fittings.
We are pleased to showcase this lovely
antique moser box, or jewelry trinket box. It has a stunning
hand painted white enamel lid, with the top and bottom joined
by brass collars and hinge. Bottom has gold with some in a raised
pattern, with a clasp in front. The French writing on the piece
translates as 'model and exclusive decoration has the hand'
which probably means the piece was crafted and decorated by
hand. This may refer to the lid, as the bottom part looks to
As to the exact age an origin, we
are not sure. We do know the makers mark on the bottom (see
photo) identifies the piece as a Vincennes or Sevres, but there
were many companies that copied these makers, most of those
dating from the late 1890s to the 20th Century. We are sure
the top is hand painted and in any case this piece is not newer
than probably the early 1900s.
This box stands 3 inches tall and
has a base 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The piece weighs 1 pound,
The moser is free of cracks and chips,
although the brass needs to be polished and the gold trim on
the bottom is at 70% or so.
In any case, this is a very nice piece,
and would be fine addition to any antiques display in the home
