Antique French Book Rack Walnut Expandable Baggage Battles S3 Normandy Episode
Baggage Battles treasure- Antique expandable Walnut wood book rack from France. BB Episode shot in Normandy France.
We are very pleased to be able to offer for your consideration another Baggage Battles treasure.
While the Bosses, Sally & Laurence Martin were in Normandy France attending an auction to commemorate the WWII D-Day invasion, and taping an episode for the Travel Channels, Baggage Battles TV show, they found this beautifully hand carved antique Walnut wood expandable book rack.
This expandable book rack measures (stored), approximately 13 inches wide, 5 inches deep, and about an inch tall. When the end stops are raised this rack is approximately 6 3/8 inches tall. this rack weighs approximately 14.7 ounces.
Condition- the overall condition of this antique bookrack is very good. It does look as if the original four small hinges were replaced with two longer piano style hinges, resulting in the outward cant of the end stops (see picture). And there is some checking at the bottom of one of the end stops, but the longer piano hinge adds strength along the base of the end stop, so this checking is not really and issue, and does no effect the functionality of the book rack. There is also a tack located on the back cross member, this tack is acting as a lock, so the rack will not expand till it is removed.
What a beautiful addition this hand Carved antique book rack would make to the decor of you office, personal library, or reading room.
