Antique BRONZE HORSE MARE FOAL SCULPTURE Southwest Geode
A bronze sculpture of a mare and
her foal sitting on a geode mount with a hand-decorated pedestal
for the mare.
Any Southwestern motif would be greatly
improved with this bronze horse sculpture. Depicted here are
a mare and her foal, at rest. The mare sits on a hand-engraved
wooden mount, which is in turn mounted on the geode base.
Horses have appeared in works of art
throughout history, frequently as depictions in the wild. Most
modern representations are of famous contemporary horses, artwork
associated with horse racing, or artwork associated with the
historic cowboy or Native American tradition of the American
west, such as the one we have here.
The horse sculpture measures 4 1/2
inches tall, is 3 3/4 inches wide, has a length of 4 1/2 inches.
The piece weighs 2 1/2 pounds.
The horses are in good shape, having
no major scrapes, marks, or dents. Both horse pieces have been
detached from the base, but can be remounted. The bottom of
the piece has remnants of earthquake gum, but these are easily
