Antique 3 Piece ITALIAN WALL LAVABO Porcelain Sink
An antique 3 piece Porcelain Wall Lavabo from Italy.
We are pleased to present this antique 3 piece Wall Lavabo for your consideration. A Lavabo is the forerunner to a sink and includes a vessel for holding and dispensing clean water, a cover for the clean water vessel, and a Basin to catch the used water. Our 3 piece Lavabo is complete except that it is missing the spigot used to dispense the clean water.
This beautiful piece is a creamy white color with extensive gold trim. It features a gold finial on the top cover with a series of ridges that radiate outwards from the center. The bottom piece, the Basin, has a row of decorative cutouts along its upper edge adding to its visual appeal and charm.
The top section consisting of the Cover and Water Dispenser measures about 17 inches in height, 11 inches in width, and 6 inches deep (maximum). The Top Cover weighs 1 pound 12 ounces. The Water Dispenser weighs 7 pounds and is marked ITALY E.5736 on the back.
The bottom Basin is 7-1/2 inches in height, 13-1/4 inches wide, and 8 inches deep, weighing 3 pounds 14 ounces. It is also marked ITALY E.5736 on the reverse.
The Top Cover has a chip on the back which will be mostly hidden when the Lavabo is mounted on the wall. The Water Dispenser is missing its spigot as previously mentioned and also has a chip on its back (hidden) surface. We also see some paint speckles on the top surface. The bottom Basin has a shallow chip (actually more of a flake in the glaze) along with some paint speckles. All 3 pieces show moderate wear to the gold trim which we estimate is 60 percent intact. We rate the overall condition of the Lavabo as very good (see pictures).
This is a unusual, hard-to-find piece with a multitude of decorative applications. One can image it filled with Plants or Flowers and placed in a Garden, Courtyard, or Patio. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
