Vintage 1940 Sepia ink plate print
number 07/50, framed and matted, signed and numbered.
We are very pleased to offer this
beautiful sepia ink plate print.
This plate print is done in Sepia
ink, and depicts a farmer, in the foreground,using a scythe,
on a hill above a calm inlet. On the opposite shore of the inlet,
in the background, there looks to be the beginnings of a small
village. This print has a quiet austerity to it.
The frame this print is mounted in
is approximately 15 5/8 inches wide, by 15 inches tall, and
1/2 inch deep. The frame is narrow and delicate it appearance
and has a shabby chic look to it. The finish is warn with traces
of dark green, ochre, and hints of gold highlights. The matte
provides a wide border that pulls the viewer's eye to the print.
The matte has pebbled texture, and is a cream color, and a inside
The print image area measures 7 1/2
inches wide, by 5 3/4 inches tall. The plate depression is clearly
visible around all four sides of the print. There are the initials
"SW" inscribed in the lower left corner of the print.
Outside the print border, below the lower right corner, the
print is signed, in pencil "Sidney Weiss 1940". Below
the lower right corner of the print, in pencil, it reads "Nova

very nice condition. The only issue I can see is that the backing
paper that seals the print is deteriorating, but this is an

etched prints this is a very nice one. Not only for all the
indications of the plate print process it displays, but for
the use of the Sepia ink, it is a nice departure from all the
prints that are done in the usual black inks. It will be a beautiful
addition to your print collection.
